Kathleen M. Cody is the Executive Director of American Bone Health and
the Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education. FORE is a
California-based research organization focusing on the needs of the
medical community to support osteoporosis detection, treatment and
prevention. American Bone Health is a community-based, chapter-driven
health organization providing support and education to the public to
promote bone health throughout the life span and reduce the risk of
osteoporosis and fractures through detection, treatment and prevention.
Ms. Cody has over 30 years of executive management experience. At FORE, she has brought coalitions of individuals and agencies together to address important bone health issues. In 2003, FORE gathered over 100 individuals from the public and private sectors to develop a National Awareness Campaign for Older Women with funding from the US Administration on Aging. In 2004, FORE assembled the world’s leading scientists to address the bone health issues facing young female athletes. Most recently, FORE is embarking on a project to improve osteoporosis awareness and outreach in the Latino community.
Ms. Cody holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Human Social Behavior from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is an honors graduate of the University of San Francisco's Executive MBA program.

Risa Kagan, MD, FACOG, CCD

Dr. Kagan is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist, graduating
from New York University and the Albany Medical College of Union
University. She completed her internship-residency at the University of
California San Francisco in 1982. Subsequently, Dr. Kagan moved to
Berkeley to practice with OB/Gyn Fertility Specialists Medical Group.
Since October 2005, she has been practicing gynecology with the East
Bay Physicians Medical Group.
Dr. Kagan also continues to teach medical students and residents and is
a clinical professor, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and
Reproductive Sciences, University of California, San Francisco. In
addition to her gynecology practice, she was previously co-medical
director of the Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education
(FORE) in Oakland, CA. She is currently a medical consultant at FORE,
and principal investigator on several clinical research trials
involving women’s health. She is a North American Menopause Society
(NAMS) certified Menopause Practitioner and is certified by the
International Society of Clinical Densitometry. She specializes in
gynecology with particular focus on gynecologic surgery and women's
health issues such as menopause and osteoporosis. She serves on
national committees developing standards for menopause and osteoporosis
care and is actively involved in several professional organizations
including the North American Menopause Society where she was the
2005-2006 chair of the professional education committee. In October
2006, she was elected to the NAMS Board of Trustees.
Dr. Kagan has been listed for many years as one of the best Bay Area
physicians in SF Magazine. She lives in Berkeley, CA, with her husband,
Dr. Richard Stern, an interventional cardiologist, and has three
children.
